Daniel Jones, Bryon Fields To Represent Duke At ACC Kick-off In Charlotte
It was announced today that quarterback Daniel Jones along with cornerback Bryon Fields will represent Duke at ACC - Kick-off July 13th and 14th at the Westin Charlotte.
The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 28 football student-athletes who have been chosen by its 14 league schools to attend the main preseason event. Duke and the rest of the Coastal Division will hold their media availability at the kickoff on Friday, July 14.
Fields Jr. is a returning starting cornerback for the Blue Devils and a preseason fourth-team All-ACC selection byAthlon Sports. In 39 career games (26 starts), Fields Jr. has 142 tackles, 4.0 tackles for lost yardage, 1.0 quarterback sack, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, two caused fumbles and 14 pass breakups. The Charlotte, N.C., native will begin the season as Duke’s most experienced player. Fields Jr. is one of four active players in the ACC with multiple career interception returns for touchdowns and one of 11 players in Duke history to register two or more INT returns for scores. Jones heads into 2017 as the returning starting quarterback. He is a preseason fourth-team All-ACC selection byAthlon Sports and one of two returning signal-callers in the ACC to have produced 2,500 or more passing yards, 15 or more passing touchdowns, 450 or more rushing yards and five or more rushing scores a season ago, joining Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, recipient of the 2016 Heisman Trophy. Jones, a product of Charlotte, N.C., enters the 2017 campaign with an active streak of 173 pass attempts without an interception, the longest current streak in the nation.
