Davis Koppenhaver Gets Opportunity With Green Bay

Former Duke tight end Davis Koppenhaver has agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.
The Blue Devils’ career leader in touchdown receptions by a tight end, Koppenhaver was a four-year letterwinner at Duke. In 41 career games, he caught 49 passes for 431 yards (8.80) and 12 touchdowns. In the Duke record book, Koppenhaver surpassed Stan Crisson (1961-63/10) for the top spot in receiving scores by a tight end. Koppenhaver’s eight career touchdown passes from quarterback Daniel Jones tie the duo for the 12th most by a Blue Devil combination. During his 2018 senior season, Koppenhaver combined with T.J. Rahming (eight) and Johnathan Lloyd (five) to form the first trio in Duke history with five receiving touchdowns apiece in a season. A native of Valencia, Calif., Koppenhaver netted 2018 Academic All-ACC honors in addition to a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District pick. As a senior, he played in all 13 games, hauling in 14 receptions for 115 yards (8.21) and seven touchdowns. He tied for eighth in the ACC, and 73rd nationally, in receiving touchdowns. One of Koppenhaver’s most memorable moments was the 2016 North Carolina game, when his three-yard scoring reception from Jones came with 2:10 remaining in the third period and served to be the game-winning score as the Blue Devils began their string of three consecutive victories against the Tar Heels.
